André oversees the erection, commissioning, and servicing of Lintec asphalt mixing plants across Latin America.

Lintec & Linnhoff prioritises aftersales support to deliver the best customer experience possible. In this series of interviews, we talk to the company’s highly experienced team of specialists to understand what it takes to maintain a first-class product support operation.

What is your name and role?

My name is André Coura, and I joined Lintec & Linnhoff in 2020 as an Electronics and Support Technician serving markets across the Latin America region.

What are your roles and responsibilities?

As an Electronics and Support Technician, I am responsible for the erection, commissioning, and servicing of all plants in Latin America. I have been involved in numerous Latin American road projects where the Lintec CSD2500B Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plant is supplying hot mix asphalt for highway construction and maintenance work. In Brazil, I worked on two Lintec CSD1500 Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plants that are helping with the construction of more than 1,000 km of the BR163 highway.

Elsewhere in Latin America, I’ve managed the installation and servicing of plants in Columbia including the Lintec CSD1500, CSD2500, and CSD3000 Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plants that helped with the construction of more than 1,000 km of the Ruta del Sol highway, as well as installing the Lintec CSD1500 Containerised Asphalt Mixing Plant in Panamá.

What is your background and how did you become a service technician?

I worked for over six years as a computer technician, directly serving customers. Subsequently, I then spent 12 years at one of the leading construction companies in Brazil as a plant supervisor, where I had the opportunity to work on the Lintec CSD Asphalt Mixing Plant for an extended period of time. I got to oversee the asphalt production and the mechanical and electronic maintenance of this plant. And when the opportunity came in 2020, I was very happy to have the chance to work for Lintec & Linnhoff. By this time I was very familiar with the plant which helped me do my job to the satisfaction of our customers.

André guides client teams, solves equipment issues, and tackles diverse challenges to ensure smooth operations.

What is a typical day on the job as a service technician?

A typical day involves guiding and teaching client teams about equipment operations, solving problems, repairing complex systems, and preparing for diverse challenges. Each day can present new issues to resolve.

Can you share a memorable success story from your time at Lintec & Linnhoff?

The Itax project in Brazil had some challenges that were complex but were successfully resolved and today the plant is working well, resulting in excellent customer feedback. Indeed, the customer was so happy that he invited me and my family to his home on the beach, as well as a trip on his yacht.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is receiving recognition from customers after resolving problems or repairing complex systems. Their satisfaction and appreciation make me feel accomplished and fulfilled as a professional.

You have been in this role for many years and bring a wealth of experience. What keeps you passionate about the job?

What keeps me passionate about my job is the diverse challenges each project presents, and the opportunity to meet new people and visit different places. In addition, my role provides me with the ability to share my knowledge, while also making new friends every day.

André stays passionate about his work through the diverse challenges each project brings.

What sets Lintec & Linnhoff apart from other companies in the industry?

Lintec & Linnhoff stands out because they recognise the hard work and dedication I bring to every client visit. Additionally, the company celebrates our birthdays, which fosters a strong sense of appreciation and belonging.

Do you have any passions or hobbies that you pursue in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy fishing and playing pool with friends when I’m away from home. When I am at home, I love spending time with my family, cooking, and hosting barbecues.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career as a service technician?

      • Develop a solid foundation in technical skills related to the equipment you will service.

      • Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements.

      • Effective communication is crucial. You will interact with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders, so be clear, patient, and empathetic.

      • Prioritise safety. Follow protocols, wear appropriate protective equipment, and maintain a safety-conscious mindset.

      • Be prepared for different challenges. Each day can bring new problems, so adaptability is essential.
