Sun Penghai, After-Sales Service Engineer at Lintec & Linnhoff, has dedicated 18 years to supporting clients through expert plant installation, commissioning, and technical service.
Lintec & Linnhoff prioritises aftersales support to deliver the best customer experience possible. In this series of interviews, we talk to the company’s highly experienced team of specialists to understand what it takes to maintain a first-class product support operation.
What is your name and role?
My name is Sun Penghai, and I’m an after-sales service engineer. I’ve been with Lintec & Linnhoff for 18 years.
Tell us about the work you’re involved in.
My role primarily involves installing and commissioning new plants, as well as ongoing technical support and monitoring of equipment in the field. When a customer encounters an issue with a plant, my goal is to provide a fast and effective solution to minimise downtime and restore operations as quickly as possible.
I also report back to the company with my feedback on any problems encountered during installation and operation. This allows our technical teams to make improvements based on real-world conditions at the site.

How would you summarise your after-sales engineering work, and what feedback have you received from customers?
Over the past decade with Lintec & Linnhoff, I’ve worked at construction sites of all sizes. Regardless of the project or the client, I approach every job with sincerity and dedication. I aim to do my best, and based on feedback, most clients are satisfied with the service I provide.
What are your main goals to succeed in your role?
After-sales service can be quite challenging—it not only tests your technical skills but also your ability to communicate and build strong relationships with customers. A good attitude is just as important as solving the problem itself. My goal is to maintain a friendly, respectful relationship with every client. Ideally, I’d like to think of our customers as friends.
What are some of the main challenges you face, and how do you overcome them?
For me, the biggest challenge is language. As Lintec & Linnhoff continues to expand globally, our after-sales engineers are interacting more with international clients. This increases the need for strong communication skills. I can manage daily work-related conversations, but I’d like to better understand clients’ deeper needs. I’m committed to work on improving my language skills moving forward.
What are some of the most memorable events or projects during your time with the company?
Every project has its own memories, but the one that stands out most is the PKM highway project in Pakistan, led by PowerChina. I was responsible for the installation and commissioning of a Lintec CSM4000 plant there. We faced extreme heat and also serious safety concerns—at one point in late 2018, there was a real threat of terrorist activity, and everyone on-site was on high alert. That experience was both challenging and unforgettable.
What do you consider your most important achievement at the company, and why?
I would say it’s the growth I’ve experienced in terms of technical expertise, communication, and problem-solving. Through the years I have worked with different clients and learnt so much from supportive managers and colleagues. This has enhanced my experience as an after-sales service manager, where I’ve seen significant progress in all these areas. I’m truly grateful for the journey.

Outside of work, Sun Penghai enjoys running and has taken part in several marathons, embracing every challenge with the same determination he brings to the job.
What do you hope to achieve in the coming years, and what motivates you to keep going?
I want to keep doing my job to the best of my ability and continue improving my technical skills. As the saying goes, you’re never too old to learn.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
In my free time, I enjoy running, and I occasionally take part in marathons. I also like to travel when I can. These days, I place more value on spending quality time at home with my family.
